Math can be frustrating and confusing, but mastering the fundamentals can be fun — it really depends on how it’s taught! That’s why we use games, fast-paced exercises, and real-life examples to help you gain the confidence necessary to improve your math skills.

What to Expect

The Top Honors curriculum is tailored around each student’s strengths and weaknesses. We first identify and then individually tackle the areas where you need help most. Along the way, you’ll work in both group and one-on-one settings. If you work hard, we can promise that you’ll find math less intimidating and more accessible.

In no time at all, you’ll feel more comfortable doing math and perhaps, will even find math class at school a little bit more interesting. Imagine that!

The tutors are patient and make math fun.

Prizes and the Incentive Plan

Top Honors believes in the value of rewarding motivated students for their hard work. Every session is an opportunity for students to earn THinc$. Good attendance, participation, effort, and behavior are only a few of the things that will earn students THinc$. Students deposit THinc$ every week into their Top Honors account and redeem them for fun prizes when they’ve reached their goal. The more THinc$, the more valuable the prize. This year, the highest prize is your very own Amazon Kindle.

FAQs for Students

Q: I missed my appointment for my initial assessment. Can I stop by during tutoring to reschedule?
A: No. Please contact us to reschedule and reserve a spot at the next new student enrollment day. Please note that Top Honors fills on a first-come, first-serve policy - the earlier your child completes his / her initial assessment, the earlier he / she is offered a seat in the program.

Q: Do my student have to reside in one of the five boroughs?
A: No. 99% of Top Honors students live in one of the five New York boroughs, but we will consider applicants who reside outside the city.

Q: I really need help finishing this homework assignment. Will my tutor go over homework with me?
A: No. Top Honors is not a homework help program. You’ll work exclusively on Top Honors exercises.

Q: Can my child "make up" a missing Top Honors session?
A: No. Students attend the same session to which they are assigned for the duration of the year. Each session has a different team of tutors. We have found that building a strong rapport between students and their tutors increases with regular attendance in the same session. Because each student works at his or her own pace, the student will not "fall behind" if the student misses a session.

Q: Do I need to bring school supplies to the session?
A: No. We provide all necessary supplies. Just bring yourself, alert and ready.

Q: How much does the program cost?
A: Top Honors is free.

Q: Does Top Honors provide MetroCards to cover the cost of my commute?
A: Select students are offered MetroCards.

Q: Does Top Honors provide food or snacks?
A: No. Food and drink are not allowed during session.
