Third time’s a charm…?
Hello! It’s me, David, again! For the last two years, I’ve ran the New York City Marathon on behalf of Top Honors, to raise funds and awareness for this great organization. The results of each race have been markedly different: one year I fell in a pothole, while the next year I traipsed through the boroughs and spent quality time with my friends while sometimes running.
Guess what? I’m running again (maybe for the last time) this year, for math! Specifically, for Top Honors.
If you don't know, Top Honors is a volunteer organization that provides free tutoring services to NYC middle school students that need help with their math skills. We spend time each week playing games with students and working one-on-one with them to build expertise in and (just as important) enthusiasm for math! For the last three years, I've spent my Saturday morning with these students, and working with them makes the entire weekend worthwhile. It's my mission to promote the organization while raising funds for our tutoring efforts in the coming school year.
This year, I'm hoping to raise $4,000 for Top Honors. That amount is enough for the materials required to provide about 10 students with a year of free tutoring. It will also go towards new initiatives to extend the services Top Honors offers throughout the city, such as our brand-new second location in Brooklyn. Thank you for supporting Top Honors!
Huffing and puffingly yours,
