In December of 2016, I narrowly missed my goal of running a half marathon in under two hours. By narrowly missed, I mean missed by a matter of seconds. Instead of being happy that I had completed my first half-marathon, I was frustrated, disappointed, and motivated to set an even more ambitious goal. I resolved to double down; my goal for 2017 is to run a marathon in under four hours. When I saw my friend Mark post on social media that the charity he is involved in, Top Honors, was looking for runners for the 2017 NYC Marathon, I knew it was the event I was looking for to attempt to achieve my goal.
As an added bonus, I get to run for a great cause. Top Honors is a volunteer organization that helps underserved kids improve their math and critical thinking skills with after school programming. Kids are matched with tutors who provide one-on-one support and use creative teaching methods and games to make sure the lessons stick. I’m looking to raise $4000 to help Top Honors expand their presence and help even more students build important skills and achieve success. Please help support me in reaching my goal of a 4 hour race time and $4000 raised!
