2006-2007 STUDENT PERFORMANCE

We are very pleased to announce the results of our 2006-2007 school year. The average improvement between our initial and final assessment was 41%, the second year in a row with 40%+ improvement. In addition, the median improvement (point at which half the students perform better and half worse) for the 2006-2007 was 44%, up from 32% the prior year. The most improved student increased by 225% between our initial and final assessment.

Now, here is where the data part of our program gets really interesting. The students who attended the program at least 15 times had a median improvement of 85%, double what the average student had. Just as interestingly, the students who had attendance rates of below 60% had no meaningful increase in their performance. Effectively: HIGH ATTENDANCE = STRONG PROGRESS.

Below are some specific highlights of the performance of our students and program (assessment data compares the beginning of year assessment to the end of year assessment):

  • Math Topic: Math Literacy (Reading & understanding questions): 94% improvement

  • Math Topic: Arithmetic: 84% improvement

  • Math Topic: Estimation: 67% improvement (fourth large improvement in a row)

  • Student Questionnaire: How organized did you feel the program was? 65% rated us Very Organized and 29% Somewhat Organized. (Parents who attended our end of year ceremony rated us 4.8 out of a possible 5.0 on a similar question)

  • Tutor Questionnaire: My overall impression of Top Honors is very good? 100% of respondents gave Top Honors a 5 (the highest rating)
